Greenleaf 6th & 7th Addition (Phase 1) Street Improvements (2022-107)

The City of Apple Valley 2022 Capital Improvement Program identifies potential street reconstruction and utility maintenance work for Greenleaf 6th and 7th Addition (Phase 1).  The scope of work includes total replacement of 3,255 linear feet of street, curb, gutter and sidewalk along with lining of the sanitary sewer, miscellaneous water main maintenance, storm sewer improvements and LED lighting upgrades. This project is tentatively schedule for construction in 2022.

To continue the long standing practice of not using special assessments the City Council has made some changes to the City Policy regarding Private items in the Public Right of Way and are outlined below:

Street Improvement Projects often require construction work to occur within the public right-of-way area behind the concrete curb or outside of the paved street section. This area is typically referred to as the boulevard. Adjacent property owners along the street frequently have installed privately owned items within the boulevard area. Some examples of privately owned items within the boulevard include:

  1. Irrigation or sprinkler systems
  2. Bushes and landscape plantings
  3. Decorative fences
  4. Underground dog fences

The City will not be responsible for the cost to remove/reinstall privately owned items that are encountered within the right-of-way as part of a Street Improvement Project. City staff will send notice to property owners ahead of the project timeframe, requesting that the property owner remove any privately-owned items within the construction zone of the public right-of-way.
